ABIT ABOUT ME

Ive been teaching martial arts now since I was 18,' my first experience of martial arts was when I was 7 years of age, With Harry Slater who ran the Kodokan Club inScunthorpe,' I trained with Harry for many years after this up unitl I was 15 when I could nolonger afford to train due to costs and Licences Fees. When I was 8 I began training with JOhn Turner who ran the british Takekwnondo Federation, but my training ended again at 15 when I could nolonger afford the costs of traning...

I have trained with So many great teachers in my time some such as Sharon Rendle and Karen Briggs went on to represent their Country in the Olympic Games whilst others did not.  But none the less they taught me well and promoted me to carry on in martial arts (even through I didn't no it at the time) later on in Life.  When I was 16 I met a gentleman called Jo D'Angelo who ran his own private martial arts club and began to learn other arts such as Kickboxing,Aikido and Jujitsu, my background in Judo helped me alot when I began my training with him as my instincts took over when I was training and the work he had me do whilst training came more naturally, after Five long years I became qualified to teach Ninjitsukan and also Ryu Karate under another Instructor Mr Armstrong.  In all my years of training prevously I never trained has hard as I did with these two single Instructors but it brought the best out of me and gave me a much needed confidence boost at a time in my life when other things wasn't working out so well.

I became a Fully qualified instructor Just before my 18th birthday of two great arts and went on to instruct those arts until sadly my Instructor passed away.  I taught at each club for almost 6 years  but Soon after my Instructors death I left the Clubs for my own health reasons.

Looking back upon my short but fruitfull career as a Instructor all these years later I still smile about the warmups and my old Instructor way of teaching his students.  After a short break from the harder arts I decided in my Adult Life to try and get back into Judo and hopefully acheive my black belt,  BUt I began unwell again and fought I would have to retire from the martial arts scene for good.

But in 2006 whilst in Hull I came across a Instructor who was willing to teach me despite my meical problems in Life the road was long and Hard as I had to adjust every movement to my specific requirements and was constantly adapting the forms to suit my needs.  After Four years of Training I gained my Black Sash in Kung Fu/ Chuan Fa Tai Chi which is both a soft and hard art combined into one.

In January 2011 I finally came home having acheived the unacheivable for me and began the process of settting up my own Foundation and Club to cater for students Like myself who where wheelbound,  But I wanted to take it a step further, 'I also wished to teach able bodied students as well.  Now 3 years down the Line I'm still teaching both Dissabled and able bodied students.  Within our Clubwe teach our students Multi Style Martial Arts, Self Defence,Tai Chi and Shaolin Kung Fu in Scunthorpe. In August 2014 we began running classes at our new venue :Listys gym west common lane scunthorpe.

We are a Inclusive martial arts school who are hear to teach anyone who would like too train, including students who are wheelchair users or who have any other dissablilites. We teach students from the age of 4 upto the age of 85 years old and beyond.
